This is one of two weekly workshop for this spring-  March 18 - April 22, 2010, Thursday afternoons (the other workshop is the same weeks on Friday afternoons), 12:30-4:30 pm (6 weeks.)  Please register early as I limit the class to 6 students.

We will be painting indoors (unless we get a glorious warm spring day!) from still lifes as well as photographs, or other source material.

I do a demo at the beginning of each session - and then I rotate through the studio working with each student individually.  I provide a lot of individual attention and focus on aiding the student in the direction they want to go. We cover all the topics - composition, color mixing, brushwork, values, edges, how to paint the still life set up and how to paint from photographs.

Some painting experience is helpful and the student is required to bring their own supplies and equipment (I have several extra easels if you do not have a portable - just let me know if you need one).

Explore the joys of painting outdoors in beautiful mid-coast Maine! This 5 day workshop will focus on capturing the essentials of the scene with mastery.  We'll leave each morning for our location by 9 am and wrap up around 4 pm.

Each day we'll paint 2-3 small paintings at a number of interesting sites within driving distance of Freeport - I will do 2 demo paintings each day (30-45 min), focusing on composition, light and values, mixing colors using a limited palette and how to achieve expressive brushwork.  I also focus on helping you develop your personal style.

Each artist will work on their own paintings after the demos, and I'll rotate to work with each artist throughout the morning and afternoon.  We'll work hard but have fun!
